Getting ready for beach mode

Graul’s had beautiful tuna steaks freshly caught in North Carolina.  That got me thinking about our upcoming beach vacation.  To get us in the mood, we had one of my favorite tuna dinners.

Grilled Tuna “Tartare”

  • 1 tuna steak per person, brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with salt and pepper
  • 2 TB olive oil
  • zest of 1/2  lime
  • juice of 1/2 lime
  • 1/2 tsp wasabi powder
  • 4 dashes Tabasco sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 scallions minced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced (optional)
  • sesame seeds
  • 2 avocados, chopped
Whisk together olive oil, lime zest, lime juice, wasabi powder, soy sauce.  Stir in scallions and jalapeno and stir into avocado.  Grill tuna until just seared on outside and serve with avocado topping.  We had the rice on the side.  Delicious!
